Suspects charged following robbery in Illinois

If you intend to own a weapon, it is important to be aware of both state and federal laws surrounding the weapon in question. Even if you do not use them, the simple possession of some weapons can be enough to result in criminal charges. In other cases, the presence of a weapon may exacerbate other potential charges. Following a recent alleged incident of theft in Illinois, two men have been charged with armed robbery.

The suspects, ages 19 and 22, were allegedly apprehended as they were leaving the area of the alleged theft in a vehicle. Shiloh Police are said to have found them with the assistance of state police and two other police departments. The two men were taken to St. Clair County Jail.

The pair stand accused of robbing a gas station convenience store. During the alleged robbery, one of the pair is said to have displayed a weapon and stolen a quantity of cash. They each face a charge of armed robbery, and the 22-year-old also faces controlled substance possession and weapon possession charges.

Bail was set at $200,000 for the 19-year-old and $300,000 for the 22-year-old.

Illegal possession or use of a weapon is taken very seriously in Illinois, so it is important to be aware of the laws regarding firearms. If you are facing charges relating to a weapons offense, the advice of an attorney may benefit you. He or she can inform you of your rights and may be able to help you pursue having the charges reduced or dismissed.
