Police arrest 2 after car chase through Illinois

When weapons are involved in a crime, they can often exacerbate the associated charges significantly. The addition of a weapon to a situation greatly increases the risk of harm coming to a person and this is a matter that is taken very seriously by authorities in Illinois. In one such case, two people arrested after a car chase through Illinois may face severe sentences after pointing a rifle at a police officer.

The car chase is said to have moved through two states, going one way and the other over the Mississippi River. The chase allegedly came to an end in Missouri where the suspects' car is said to have crashed. During the pursuit, one of the two people in the car is reported to have pointed a rifle in the direction of an officer.

However, the car came into contact with a bump in the road and the gun fell from the suspect's hands. Police had originally attempted to pull over the suspect in connection with an alleged carjacking. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident. Even so, the mere presence of the rifle may have been enough to increase the charges against the suspects.

If you are facing charges relating to weapons crimes, you may find the advice of an attorney helpful. He or she can help you to understand the allegations against you and assist you in preparing your defense. With the right support, you may be able to avoid conviction or at least seek a reduced sentence.
