3 men's drug charges involve LSD, cocaine, heroin

A man in Illinois was recently accused of committing crimes involving multiple drugs. His drug charges came after he was allegedly found to have sold LSD, cocaine and marijuana on a minimum of three occasions. Meanwhile, in a separate incident involving a drug bust, two other men were charged with committing crimes involving heroin and/or cocaine.

The 20-year-old man involved in the first case was arrested on a Monday at a little after 4 p.m. and was held on a bond of $2 million. He was taken into custody on three county warrants that charged him with illegally delivering a drug. His arrest came following what police called a long investigation into the use and sales of cannabis, LSD and cocaine in the area of the Illinois Valley. The special investigations unit of a city police department and TRI-DENT agents completed the arrest.

Regarding the drug bust, one of the two men who were arrested was allegedly involved in delivering heroin -- a felony (Class 2) carrying three to seven years behind bars. Meanwhile, the other man was said to have possessed heroin and cocaine with the intent of delivering them -- a felony (Class 1) carrying between four and 15 years in prison. The two men are both 29 years old.

Fortunately, just because someone is arrested on drug charges does not mean he or she is guilty in the eyes of the law. Rather, prosecutors have to prove this individual's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt before any conviction can be secured. This standard is in place in an effort to prevent innocent people from being convicted of crimes they did not commit. An attorney will strive to ensure that the defendant's rights are protected and that his or her best interests are upheld during all stages of this type of criminal proceeding in Illinois.
