2 separate crashes result in drivers receiving DUI charges

These days, roadways across the state of Illinois are crowded and constantly congested with traffic. Due to the number of vehicles sharing these roadways, accidents become almost inevitable. Motor vehicle accidents can happen for a number of reasons, but getting a DUI charge can make the experience of an accident even more stressful and traumatic. A couple of recent accidents near Bradley left two drivers facing DUI charges.

The first accident occurred during the morning hours near Route 17. According to reports, a vehicle was struck by a semi-truck at a stop sign. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with DUI as well as driving with a revoked license, police said

The other accident involved a single vehicle in a roll-over type crash along Interstate 57. Reports say the crash happened during the night time hours around mile marker 314. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested upon release from a local hospital. The driver was charged with DUI and also received tickets for improper lane usage, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt, according to police.

The DUI charges received by these drivers are only charges and not convictions. Nevertheless, these charges can potentially do irreversible damages to their records and reputations. If these drivers are convicted in Illinois, they could be facing big fines as well as jail time. It would be beneficial to those who have been charged with a DUI to acquire the services of an experienced attorney. A knowledgeable criminal defense lawyer familiar with DUI cases can provide guidance during this difficult time.
