Man arrested on drug charges after police raid home

Being arrested and charged with a crime can be a life-altering and humiliating thing to experience. However, when a person is hit with drug charges, the effects can be absolutely devastating and follow an individual for the rest of his or her life. A person should feel a sense of security and privacy in one's home. However, it is not uncommon for those suspected of secreting drugs to have their homes searched. In the state of Illinois, police must either obtain consent or a search warrant to enter a home.

Police in Williamson County recently searched the home of a man and arrested him on drug charges. According to reports, authorities obtained a search warrant and searched the suspect's home. Allegedly, police found heroin in the residence and placed the man under arrest.

Police say the man was charged with unlawful possession of heroin and unlawful possession of a firearm. The man was also charged with unlawful delivery of methamphetamine stemming from a warrant from another county, according to authorities. Police reportedly transported the man to the Williamson County Jail.

Its common knowledge that charges such as this are a big deal and can result in serious jail time. Although this man has been arrested and charged, this does not at all mean he has been convicted. Those in Illinois who are facing drug charges have options available that could increase their chances of obtaining a successful outcome. A knowledgeable criminal defense lawyer can offer guidance and protection of one's rights throughout this difficult and stressful process.
