Rollover crash ends in a DUI

Illinois is a great state in which to live and work. Because of this, populations are on the rise across the state. However, this influx of people means that roadways will become even more crowded and dangerous, and motor vehicle accidents will rise as a result. Traffic accidents happen for a number of reasons, but regardless of the reason, accidents are always stressful. This stress can be greatly exacerbated when an accident ends in a DUI charge.

A woman in Country Club Hills received a DUI charge after a recent accident. The crash involved one vehicle and happened during the overnight hours on the ramp from Interstate 80 to Interstate 57. According to reports, a car rolled over on the ramp, and a front seat passenger was ejected from the car. Reports said the ejected passenger was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Another passenger in the car also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Reportedly, the driver of the car refused medical attention. However, police suspected the driver of being intoxicated and placed her under arrest. Police said she was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI.

In Illinois and across the country, those convicted of driving under the influence can be hit with months of jail time as well as steep fines. A DUI charge can also mean many sleepless nights filled with stress and anxiety. Those who have been charged with a DUI should consider discussions with a knowledgeable attorney. A criminal defense lawyer familiar with DUI cases can provide guidance and protect personal rights throughout this stressful process.
