Many people who consume alcohol on a regular basis may not always know when they have had too much. As a result, it is possible that they will get behind the wheel of a vehicle and put themselves and others at risk of injuries. It is also likely that a person who makes this mistake will face criminal charges for driving under the influence.
One man was recently charged with DUI after reportedly causing two accidents in Illinois. The man is from out of state, and he was visiting his sister who lives in the state. Details on how the accidents occurred were few, but the report did state that the man was purportedly involved in a crash with another vehicle that resulted in the injuries of a 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child. Apparently, the man did not remain at the scene of that accident.
Another accident occurred a short time later, and the same man was involved. Authorities approached the man’s vehicle and apparently thought that he appeared intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. He purportedly did not comply with an officer’s request for him to turn off the vehicle, and the officer had to reach in the vehicle to remove the keys. The man was taken into custody and is currently facing charges for felony aggravated DUI as a fourth offense, drugged driving, heroin possession and other allegations.
Though the man may not have intended for his day to turn out this way, he now faces a serious predicament.
