Illinois passes law to combat fraudulent opioid prescriptions

Like much of the United States, Illinois is currently fighting a massive battle against the over-prescription and abuse of opioids. In an attempt to combat the state’s opioid crisis, Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a new piece of legislation last Wednesday that would target fraudulent drug prescriptions. The law would require licensed prescribers to check a database to see whether patients have already been prescribed certain controlled substances.

Woman arrested for DUI after allegedly drinking vodka

A woman was recently taken into custody in Illinois for drunk driving. The DUI arrest took place after police said she told them she began drinking directly from a vodka bottle prior to crossing the state line. Police said they first noticed her car speeding at about 3:40 a.m. on a Sunday and thus executed a traffic stop.

Man faces drug charges following others' overdoses

A man in Illinois was recently arrested after police said he possessed drugs and was connected to life-threatening overdoses. The man's arrest stemmed from an investigation involving a drug task force and police. Reportedly, the man facing drug charges is 38 years old.
