Man arrested after pulling gun outside abortion facility

Many residents of Illinois own a weapon of some form. Often this is kept as a form of additional security, to be used only in an emergency. However, when tempers flare, it is all too easy for people to make rash decisions and act in a way they later regret. For example, you may decide to frighten someone by displaying a weapon to them. Even if you have no intention of doing any harm, you could still be charged. In fact, if they thought you were about to hurt them, this could even amount to an assault allegation.

In Aurora, Illinois, a 21-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly drawing a gun when confronted by a anti-abortion protester. According to reports, the accused was accompanying a woman into the Planned Parenthood facility when the pro-lifer accosted them with an appeal to spare the unborn child. It has been alleged that the 21-year-old then drew a gun, which is said to have been fully loaded. The man is also believed to have had 15 rounds of ammunition with him.

As a result, he was charged with disorderly conduct as well as unlawful weapon use, a misdemeanor offense. These charges could have a significant effect on his future if he is convicted, a worry he likely could have done without when his energy may already have been devoted to supporting the woman through an extremely difficult decision.

Sadly, arrests like this happen all too often. If you are facing charges relating to illegal weapon use, an attorney could prove to be an invaluable ally. He or she can advise you about how best to structure your defense and the possible consequences of conviction. With this guidance, you may be able to clear your name and prevent your record from being tarnished.
