Man charged with DUI after arrest at a golf course

Driving while intoxicated is not only incredibly dangerous, it endangers the lives of others. In recent years, police forces in Illinois and across the country have stepped up efforts to combat drunk driving. Being charged with a DUI can be quite stressful and worrisome. Unfortunately, an individual who is arrested for DUI can potentially face punishment and negative consequences for the rest of his or her life.

Recently, a man in Joliet was arrested at a golf course on suspicion of DUI. According to reports, police were called to an area near a local golf course after several people reported a vehicle going into oncoming traffic and almost causing several crashes. Police said they arrived on the scene and found the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot of the golf course.

Police said they talked with the driver of the vehicle and he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Allegedly, the man refused to take field sobriety tests. Police arrested the driver and charged him with driving while intoxicated by alcohol, reports said.

Even if an individual passes field sobriety tests, he or she can still be placed under arrest if a law enforcement officer suspects the intoxicated use of alcohol while driving. Although a DUI charge can feel like the end of the world, there are options available that may help those who have been charged. Every person who is charged in Illinois has a right to seek legal representation and defend against the charge. Acquiring the services of an attorney experienced in criminal defense could prove very beneficial and ensure that individual rights are protected.
